2.6 Item Where Used Inquiry

 

  • Form Application: Bills of Material
  • Form Name: BOMFQWIN

Item where used is a reverse view of BOM components. This is very useful as it shows all assembly items that contains this component. Especially for engineers, shop floor supervisors, planers this functionality helps in viewing the all the assemblies associated with a component.

Navigation: BOM responsibility -> Bills -> Item Where Used

  • Enter the component ‘Item
  • Levels‘ to be exploded
  • Specific ‘Revision‘ of Item
  • Organization: Current or hierarchy of organization.
  • Click ‘Find’

Output displays all the assemblies uses the component searched.

Comparing Bills Of Material (BOM) is a very useful functionality that shows the differences of

  • Same BOM with different revisions
  • Same BOM and same revision in different organizations

Description
Comparing two BOMs is most common task performed by engineers, shop floor supervisors. Two BOMs of different revisions or same revision from different inventory organizations can be done. Output from this screen shows the differences.

Navigation:BOM responsibility -> Bills -> Comparison

  • Enter the Bill1 and Bill2 details (organization, item, alternate) for comparison.
  • Select the fields to be compared
    • Item sequence
    • Operation sequence
    • Planning%
    • Quantity
    • Optional
    • Effective Date
    • Disable Date
    • Implemented
  • Select Order by criteria
    • Operation seq, Item sequence
    • Item sequence, Operation sequence
  • Check ‘Differences Only’ to show only difference in values, if you uncheck it will show all values of BOm1 and BOM2.
  • Click ‘Compare’

Output will show the BOM comparison.

2.4 View Indented BOM

  • Form Application: Bills of Material

Bills of Material (BOM) is always setup as single level. For a multi level BOM, each parent must be setup with its components separately (single level). View Indented BOM is a screen where a multi level view of BOM can be displayed for better user interaction and drill down. This is view only screen and can’t be used for any changes to BOM.

Navigation: BOM responsibility -> Bills -> Indented Bills

Enter the search crietria

  • Select parent/assembly ‘item’
  • Enter the parent ‘quantity’ – this is used to explode and see the required component quantity
  • Enter the ‘levels’ to explode.
  • Select the display options
  • Click ‘Find’ to view the indented BOM.

Once level ‘1’ BOM is displayed, you can expand and collapse using ‘+’ and ‘-‘ icons. You can also see the all other compoenent level information.
