Lot Control Setup

Lot control setp is done at item master organization level or item organization level. Navigate to item and inventory attributes tab. First you can check/uncheck to turn-on/off the lot control for each item. You can choose either Full control or no control. Once enabled you are expected to enter lot numbers in every transaction you do.

Setup Lot expiry date, this controls when the lot becomes expired and systematically it prevents lot being used in manufacturing/assembly/shipping. Shelf life control can be defined in number of days.

Enter lot number uniqueness. Lot uniqueness can be within and Item or across an item or within an inventory organization.

Lot Control Overview

Lot usually represents a group of items that are suppose to carry same speficications or any other common characterestics. Lot doesn’t mean you can’t have one quantity in it, system allows you a lot with one item and one quantity. In manufacturing processes the entire output generated from a bacth or shift or from a sampling unit are usually classified into a LOT. Lot number makes it easier to identofy the material and its reference inforation like manufactured date, testing results, expiry information etc.

Oracle Inventory let you allow Lots and child lot. Child lots are nothing but sublots within a lot.

Lot numbers can be generated automatically or manualy assigned based on setup control.

Lot control is decided at Item master or Item organization level for each item. so in your organization you can have some items lot controlled and some are not.

Material Status Control Setup

In this screen you can create/modify a material status

1 ) Enter the Name of the status

2 ) Enter description of material status

3 ) Select appropriate check boxes for

– Allow Reservations

– Include in ATP

– Nettable

4 ) Select the usage

– Subinevntory

– Locator

– Lot

– Serial

– On-hand

5 ) Select the transactions allowed or disalowed.
