can I interpret this like oracle APS instance, where APS imports and exports the the data to oracle erp source system with default integration ?
If we use APS along with distributed WMS, from where on-hands should be collected ? ERP or WMS instance ?

It supports in Source ERP instance, not in destination WMS instance.
In Distributed WMS functionality that is available in R12 you can centralize your WMS operations in a separate stand-alone instance and have have your source ERP instance send and receive updates from WMS.
